I am racing against the clock to meet my work’s deadline now, but I really really really want to write something in my blog. T.T Unfortunately, that is not a viable decision. But I am dying to post SOMETHING! So here goes something that doesn’t require much description.

Ah, but first, these 2 are the first 2 pics of the “new” Dalamud I ever had in my PC! Not taken by me, since after each of the 2 patches, I was lazy and keeping busy outside of the game and didn’t log in for so many days. So, Corn took these pics for me and sent them.

14 AUG 2012. First adjustment of the Dalamud’s size, I think. Corn was so excited about the trio Empire’s airships and the aurora.

15 SEP 2012, after the newest patch which made Dalamud has golden glow.

Anyway, here are my latest Dalamud pics. First one was WEIRD! I logged into Corn’s character using my PC and this was what I saw at Drybone. I don’t know what was going on, because when I logged in to my own character, the Dalamud shrunk back to normal size.

The rest of the collection is from latest patch and so on.

Be warned, below this is a plethora of screenshots. It might take a long time to load on your screen. Click the link at your own risk. XD

I am so far behind average hard-working players. I’ve never fought the Moogle battle before. (And now I still haven’t fought the Garuda, except the pre-quest one.)

Today Corn was dragged to the Thornmarch to help someone he met before (during the Raven’s quest) fight the Moogles and the King Moggle. I went there just to standby as an ambulance, because I wasn’t very interested and I didn’t have the proper job. However, the party lost 2 people after their first defeat. The leader saw me raising Corn and him, so he invited me. The party already had 2 WHMs, but the leader changed to BLM to make a WHM spot for me.

Long story short, we wiped (pile of corpses!!) once before winning smoothly. Then, we repeated again for another win. We won WITH GREAT DIFFICULTY. People kept dying because someone in the mages/ranges group kept pulling the hate off Corn. So the King Moggle was plowing us down. Anyway, after so many dying/raising, we won and I was so lucky I got a Murderous Mogfists! Poor Corn didn’t talk to Pukwa Pika before entering so he didn’t get the key item to open treasure box. T.T So sad!

The 2nd win was so tough. Corn died so many times because I suck and was too busy running around to save my own ass from King Moggle’s AoE attack. And the other WHM died or pulled hate a lot, either because I didn’t cure people enough or they used too big and too many cures. I didn’t know what went wrong, but that particular fight was such a pain in the ass ; ;

I know I am bad when I panic. In an important fight, if more than 2 people start dying at the same time, or if 4 people keep dying one after another, I don’t know what to do. Simply because I can raise 2 people at a time using Presence of Mind. So, it seems when there are more dead bodies than my job abilities can handle, I panic. Gah! That’s why I always say I am main Monk! I was born as a Monk, both in FFXI and FFXIV. I always was a Monk, and always will.  Too bad,  Monk in FFXIV cannot use Raise spell, hahaha!

And yeah when I panic I run around like a useless ass ; ; I was able to raise the other WHM once or a few times, though. And the BLMs, and/or the BRD, I can’t really remember, it was so hectic. What I couldn’t do was keeping tank alive!! ; ; I was either too far to cast until Corn died, or my spell was too slow to save his life.

But yeah, we won eventually and I was lucky enough to get a weapon. And, most of all, the weapon of my main job!

So, yesterday’s night Corn wanted to try to challenge the “easy” Garuda (yeah I know, he’s so pumped), especially after I told him we already had 4 people who were eligible for the quest. Before Haku and PZ got ready, Corn and I went to check out the quest spot. It is in Coerthas, but in an area we’ve never accessed before. I found a cave northeast from Natalan and thought that was the correct path, but it sent us to the other area up north instead.

(Corn actually said it’s a lame castle where we were, but I thought he said lame because he couldn’t see Ishgard castle from that spot LOL)

Later on, Corn found out where we had to go. The cave leading to that new area was actually just northwest from Camp Glory (ironically, the destination Aetherial Gate is a branch of Camp Dragonhead). So, we backtracked. However, while riding chocobo in the mountain, I attracted a raptor-type enemy and it killed me. Corn had to change job to WHM to raise. LOL.

Lead by Corn, we finally arrived at the correct area. This was the first time we’ve ever attuned to the gate “Feathergorge.” The area has a few dangerous enemies, such as lv ~50 hog, lv ~70 Ixali, lv ~50 raptor, lv ~50 hippogryph and lv ~50 peiste. They were disperse, so it was very easy to dodge.

We then waited in the cave, right at the arena’s entrance. Haku was home but still doing stuff before logging in, while PZ was on FFXIV but playing DotA.

When they logged on, I told them to proceed on the quest to catch up with us. They went to talk to the old man Louisiox (I can’t spell!) and then got the cutscene from Quarrymill. They talked to the old man again and headed out from Gridania. However, the clumsy Dragoon teleported to Horizon instead because his selection cursor messed up and moved to the next fav camp instead, LOL! So they had to teleport again.

Unfortunately enough, upon arriving at Camp Glory, they were assaulted by an army of summoned monster. Oh boy. That’s the new patch for you. Hahaha. Yep, I had to rescue their dead asses.

Luckily, the undead army disappeared after a while. They probably pop and depop as rounds like other camp defense missions. Soon after, we gathered at Garuda’s cave and prepared for the fight. Corn was PLD, me WHM, Haku BRD and PZ DRG.

Ready, go!

At first, the battle seemed easy. My Stoneskin on Corn stayed for a long time so I thought Lady Gagaruda (Uri called her this! LOL) was easy. However, we were unable to kill her half as fast as the easy Ifrit. Then I realized that Ifrit’s prequest only requires level 25, while this one requires lv 40! So, yep, she’s a tough nut!

We went in blindly, knowing nothing about Garuda (well, Corn might have researched some stuff and PZ might have heard something, but I and Haku didn’t know ANYTHING).

Garuda got tougher and her attacks were stronger at 1/3 HP. I didn’t know what to do and couldn’t keep up with the healing, so eventually we died.

Damn Aerial Blast. :(  I think I got hit by the rock boulders.

Corn returned to home point in town and teleported back to get me up. Then I raised Haku and PZ. We went in again for 2nd round, which also failed miserably. However, it showed that we had enough people, but we just needed to survive the ultimate attack. PZ also found out we had to kill the feathers (Razor Plume) so that they can’t damage us when Garuda uses some attack skill.

By the way, it was hard for me to tell front from back when Garuda “soars high into the sky” and then lands before using heavy frontal cone AoE attack, so I usually got hit and lost a lot of HP whenever she did that.

3rd attempt was so close. We were killing and dodging just fine, but Aerial Blast one shot me. Haku tried to raise but got ass kicked. PZ died, and Corn died while trying to sneak in to raise me.

Final attempt, Corn changed to WAR instead of PLD. He used AoE WS to kill the Plumes fast and saved a lot of time (we had only Haku and PZ chase down the plumes earlier, I tried to nuke the plumes with my Stone and Stonega spell, but usually couldn’t land because they died fast).

We dodged great this time. Haku helped a lot in talking to me in group voice call on Skype. She let me know whether I have to reposition or not. That saved me from having to stare at Garuda trying to figure out which was was front!

Then, we won. I wouldn’t say smooth, but it was surely less rough than previous attempts. I was so happy. And the cutscene was EPIC!

Once again, the Summer Festival has returned! This time, Moonfire Faire presents us the quest “Bombard Backlash” which involves dancing at the Bombard and Bombard King NPC.

Let’s take a look at the festive decorations and atmosphere!

Fireworks! Boom boom!

Balloons~~~ Lots of balloons~~~!!!! So cute and colourful. ^_^

The NPC who gives out quest as well as a starter pack (1 set of basic Yukata) and offering reward purchase.

These pics above were taken yesterday, when the psych died down a little and not so many people crowd around the NPC anymore. There’s still one left, though, LOL. I wish people would stop standing AFK at the decoration or at NPC. Shoo! Shoo! Damn Lalafell! But meh, /names can help conceal some stuff, so this pic isn’t too bad. XD

Now, let’s go check out the quest desk for festive items.

It’s so crowded!

I don’t really like the first few days of a festival, because people crowd around NPC and it is hard to get nice screenshots. But as my monk has Fists of Wind, I could use my speed to run in and take a picture before other PC load on my screen LOL!

I managed to get a picture with no crowd, though haha.

Corn wasn’t on because it was his bedtime. But Haku (my friend Uriel) was excited about the festival and was screaming “Yukata Yukata!” so we set out for the activities as soon as I logged in. Toy happened to be around in the game so we formed a party of 3 in order to communicate.

The dancing trio is ready for the festival!

After this, we went out to do the quest in Thanalan, just south of Camp Black Brush, but oh the crowd!!! It was annoyingly over-crowded and we couldn’t get any bomb. So we teleported to Gridania in hope that it would be less popular. Well, not really! It was crowded, too. However, after a few rounds of bomb attacks, I started to get the pattern and figured out it it better to stand in one spot with mouse cursor ready, then click on the bomb quickly when it pop, while poking the /firedance macro buttons with left hand. This surely beats running around trying to catch a bomb. I ended up getting 2 stacks of Bombard Ash in less than 2 hours.

Thanalan Bombard Hamlet when it is less crowded.

You only need to dance successfully ONCE during the round to obtain reward of Bombard Ash when the defense ends. One round lasts about 10 minutes. Bombards and Bombard Kings will come in waves. Later waves are more numerous, so if you’re slow at targeting and dancing, your chance will come around 5 minutes in. And around 7th minutes, the last wave is huge and could breach the defense line easily if people don’t concentrate. You can wait near the Balloon stand and click & dance on any bomb NPC that gets near. Whereas if you want to get it early, you might want to stand on the outer border, close to where the bombs pop, so that you can dance on it before other people get it.

When your dance is successful, there will be a blinking effect around your character, just like in 2011 Bombard event.

After the round ends, if no decoy bomb was destroyed, you will get 20 pinches of Bombard Ash. If some were destroyed, but not all, you will get 10. Gather enough Bombard Ash and head back to town to exchange your rewards.

So, here’s the list of the rewards. You need 165 pinches of Bombard Ash in order to complete the whole collection.

Yukata sets for male characters. I am quite mad we girls don’t get the amulet necklace and the Moogle mask!!!

Yakata sets for female character. We get purdy ribbon in the back, hehe.

This festival also brings back other fireworks in the past. Tracers and Sparklers are sold at a separate NPC for 10 gil each. Bombard Bloom, the new firework, is available at the quest NPC for the price of 1 Bombard Ash. I would like to buy a lot of it, but the NPC reward exchange system sucks and it kicks me out completely from the conversation menu, so I have to manually initiate the conversation with NPC all over from start again, and again. My patience only allowed me to buy 20 Bombard Blooms for now. Haha.

The various fireworks.

Hopefully they will make it so we can choose amount of Bombard Bloom to purchase… Buying one at a time is annoying and stupid.

Went to play the Bombard Hamlet Defense with Corn once and we came back town to exchange rewards.

Would be awesome if we could gather everyone in the LS to dance together for a group pic!

Fun, fun! Look at that Moogle Mask! I am jelly!!!!  \(>A<)/

Though I like fishing in FFXIV, I don’t usually fish everyday. But recently, I’ve been bothered and irritated easily, so I want some peace for myself. It resulted in me going to Bald Knoll to fish all day everyday. One of the reasons is that the area has grade 5 fishing, so it gives decent EXP even to me (Fisher level 41, which has now turned 42).

Before that, I’ve also started working on Fishing Achievements, so I went to fish at Black Brush, then at Drybone.

My recent screenshots are full of fishing pics XD

Drybone fishing (school - just to check something)

Bald Knoll at night

The ocean view at Bald Knoll

Toads at Bald Knoll....

Beautiful sky

Anyway, while I was gone from home to the beach with parents, I set my retainer to sell all the Navigator Ears and Young Indigo Herrings I got from my fishing sessions, they all sold, along with some other items I can’t even recall. ><;; So when I got home I found 1.3 million gil in my retainers LOL! The earnings just from fish were like 750k.

Although I finished downloading and patching my FFXIV a few days ago, I just had enough time, and energy, to sit down and actually play it yesterday. I found this patch extremely pleasant for several things.

► First off, there are new Grand Company ranks and quests to access.

And it seems it was the first (or only) thing my HM was interested of. So first thing we did when we logged into the game (actually he logged in first and was squeeing about new GC quest, and I didn’t want to be left behind so I hopped in too, LOL) was doing “Careless Whisper” (LOLOLOL ROFLMAO!!!) quest.

Also, we’re now both Flame Sergeant Second Class.

► Next, probably the one new thing that made me most happy, the Armoire.

I freed up quite a large number of inventory slots. All the Easter equipment as well as Dragon Helms and  Reindeer outfit are now kept safe in the box. (Too bad, though, Dream set from Christmas long ago cannot be stored.) Now I, the famous pack rat, no longer roam Eorzea with inventory brimming at 198/200!

► Secondary Home Point

This is just so grrrrrrrrrrrrreat! Now I can set main HP at Uldah and Inn HP at Limsa, because nowadays I do craft LQs in LL but still have to visit Ul’dah daily because our LS mostly gather in Ul’dah. It’s chipping away at my pocket money. Now I go back and forth between 2 places for free!

► Back entrance to Ul’dah inn.

So now it is usable. I have completely no idea how and why the main entrance is causing trouble for the server or for Ul’dah and the crash, whereas back entrance doesn’t. Maybe they put it somewhere separate on the server or something? LOL. Or maybe there is a reason from some trivial storyline. I will have to find out.

Moreover, now we can interact with the bed. If you select Exit From Game at your bed, it shows your character hopping into bed and sleep! LOL!!

Oh, and then, when you log in again, it shows you waking up and hopping off the bed! MOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking about making some specific fashion set to use as my pyjamas hahahaha! Could be fun. :)  I can’t wait to get the real Mog House! Wanna put good furnishings into my room and invite friends for pyjamas snack party. :P

I also heard from a Linkshell friend that there is a possibility to trigger nightmare from the bed O_o!? I wonder how it will look like and if it has something to do with main story quest or not haha!

► Crafting is now much faster, if not easier.

I also like how crafting abilities now has 100% effective (not like dumb luck random failure/success like before) although it will require me to level up many crafts in order to access the abilities I desire. They changed a lot of abilities’ names. And so I have to relearn crafting again LOL. Seems a hassle, but I think it will worth it!

Moreover, now synthesis process no longer has timer. So you can linger or be distracted as much as you like without losing any Durability due to time out!

► Finally, text command for swithing Linkshell!!!!!

Gotta love the “/equiplinkshell 1″ “/equiplinkshell 2″ command. It is also usable even during synthesis. This is very lovely!!!

► Materia melding request, so trading the equipment and materia is not required anymore!

This is also nice and puts ease on player’s mind. Because not all crafters are trustworthy, and not all clients are trusting towards strangers.

► Garuda!

Although I am not quite thrilled, since I still have yet to battle against the Moogle King. I want Moogle knuckles more :(

I think that’s about it, all the changes that I noticed and appreciated from a day of playing on new patch. Some other stuff are too much in depth or I haven’t experienced them yet, so I am not noting them here.

One last thing, yesterday this incident put a big grin on my face.

I was walking to the Retainer Bell in Ul’dah’s Adventurer’s Guild when someone (namely Ocho Bocho) said thank you and mentioned my name. I was all confused until they added that it’s about Fishing Database on MoogleBox.com. It was kind of them to take time to express their appreciation. And it’s very nice of Jet to have put my name there along with Aviha Chai (I hereby thank you Aviha Chai, as well!).

NOTE: That chibi Jet is so OMG cute!!!!!! Whoever drew that gets a big round of applaud from me, right now! /clap /clap /clap

I must admit, though, that I wouldn’t have gone out of my way to gather all these information if no one had already started the campaign. Jet made great DataBase site and also put up a very easy-to-use Google Doc spreadsheet, so it was so convenient for me to just note stuff and put the numbers in the already existing table. His spreadsheet was brilliant and it helps me get unlazy. It’s so neat and felt very easy, that was largely why I went out to fish everyday to compile the data.

So, thank you, Jet (and whoever it is if you have someone assisting in making MB and/or replying to e-mails), thank you a million time!

Also, I have Haku to thank. Because this friend just started playing, and she immediately took the liking to fishing. I went out to accompany her to various fishing spots, so I took that time to gather fishing info. She followed me everywhere I wanted to go fishing, without any single complaint. So everyday, we went to places where I needed to check for fish’s sweet spot and strike zone. Fishing with a buddy had made it much more enjoyable and addicting! It was so fun I got the info in such a short span of time.

Last but not least, I want to thank various random fishers who happened to be fishing near me while I was out there gathering fishing info for MoogleBox. They and my chatlog were how I confirm so many fish which have max yield per pull as “1.” Since it would have taken me all day to confirm such thing, having other fishers fishing near by, letting me peek at their fishing results shortened the time greatly. Seeing them keep pulling in 1 fish at a time allowed me to confidently put “1” in the table for certain fish.

^_^

Lately Corn and I have been trying many quests duo or trio. Mainly because we usually stick together, while other people in the LS are busy. And since we’re both at quite the same progress in jobs and AFs quests, we attempted many of them with just the 2 of us. Some were easy, some were hard but successful, and some failed miserably. It was a lot of fun, far more exciting and challenging than getting help from full party.

Nervous we might be, and failure may occur, but it is much less stressful for many reasons. Firstly, we don’t have to try to put together 8 people to attempt the battle, just the 2 of us means we’re fully flexible and swift. Secondly, we’re always ready so there’s no need to fret whether helpers would be presented or not. Thirdly, it saves a lot of trouble searching and making party, which might take hours. Finally, we don’t bear the pressure from sense of responsibily should the attempt fail, unlike if we drag 6 other people along with us.

Also, it gives me the thrill of adventure, then a sense of great triumph when we win. Maybe that’s another reason why I am addicted to following Corn everywhere. ^_^ Corn also said this stuff reminds him of our old days in FFXI, where we go duo shits everywhere (or trio with Kennchann! I would add) and had a hell ton of fun.

I took a few screenshots of our recent activities and since I feel braggy about them, I am putting them in my blog, separately quest by quest, in chronological order according to screenshot’s date.
